Things required:

  •  essential oil – 3 drops
  • distilled water -350 ml or 1 1/2 cup
  • dried orange peel – 3 tbsp
  • a fresh rose
  • a carnation
  • vodka – 115 ml or 1/2 cup
  • cloves – 1 tsp

step – 1

Take rose and carnation petals and pour 115 ml or 1/2 cup vodka. Cover the jar and leave it on a sunny windowsill for 1 week.

Step – 2

Measure 3 tablespoon of dried orange peel and 1 tsp of cloves into a bowl and pour over 350 ml (1 1/2 cups ) boiling distilled water. Leave to stand for 5-6 hrs.

Step – 3

Strain both the flowers and the vodka mixture and the orange and clove mixture through a fine sieve into a bowl or jug.

Step – 4

Check for clarity – the liquid may need straining through a finer sieve to clear it completely.

Step – 5

Add 3 drops of essential oil and stir well. Pour the liquid into a bottle and keep it in the refrigerator to cool.

Put in a spray bottle and use it.

I really enjoyed making this DIY perfume. It smells great. It is cheap and you can experiment with it by adding other items and creating new fragrances.

  3. Was the first comment about how long the perfume will keep? If so, the alcohol and essential oil are both preservatives so it should keep at least a year and up to three, assuming it’s kept in a cool, dark spot and no bacteria got into the ingredients by accident during the making :0).
